IMCP Young Scientist Award

This award aims to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of young scientists in the field of ground-based geospace observation and research, particularly those actively engaged in IMCP-related studies. Each year, approximately three winners will be selected to receive an honorable certificate and a cash prize of up to USD 1500, all of which will be presented at the Workshop.

A call for application from the IMCP community will be made annually. And it will be announced through the IMCP mailing list and IMCP website.

Call for Applications for the 2024 IMCP Young Scientist Award

This is a call for applications for the 2024 International Meridian Circle Program Young Scientist Award.

Definition

This award will provide encouragement to young scientists who achieved considerable success in ground-based detection of space weather research and took an active part in IMCP related studies.

A call for applications from the IMCP community will be made annually. And it will be announced through the IMCP mailing list and IMCP website.

Eligibility

The definition of a Young Scientist (early career) is normally that the applicant should have been awarded their Ph.D. within 8 years.

The application should conduct scientific research related to IMCP and have made outstanding progress, using one or more observing facilities on the IMCP or related ground-based detection devices.

The award will recognize outstanding individual contributions to space weather through research published in the refereed literature by a Young Scientist.

Submitting an abstract to the IMCP workshop may qualify you for application, and awards will be presented at the workshop venue.

Application

Application should be made by at least one scientist from the supervisor or other scientists familiar with the work and should include:

i.Curriculum Vitae with a brief description of the scientific contributions;

ii.A full list of relevant publications;

iii.Recommendation letter;

iv.The submitted abstract title.

The applications should be sent to fyang@nssc.ac.cn by June 15, 2024.

Selection

The 2024 IMCP workshop Scientific Organizing Committee (SOC) members and session chairs will select no more than 10 awardees from these applications. The award will include a medal and citation. The successful candidate will be sponsored to attend the IMCP related workshops or conferences with a cash prize of up to USD 1500. The award ceremony will be held during the 2024 IMCP workshop.

Requirements after funding:

Acknowledge IMCP in publications and presentations.
